This site is a proxy to the Job Centre Plus website Job Search facility. Small changes are made to support Mozilla-based browsers.
Why did I do this? Because I was fed up with not being able to access the Job Search from non-Microsoft web browsers. The changes required were not difficult.
Why do they not fix the official site? Maybe the Job Centre cannot afford to have the website changed. Maybe EDS (the organisation that created the site) do not have the knowledge and skills required for creating compatible websites. I don't know.
The Job Search facility (both the official and this proxy service) requires heavy use of Javascript, which is really quite unnecessary. Along with the offical site's requirement of Microsoft Internet Explorer, I feel the Job Search facility contravenes The Disability Discrimination Act.
This proxy service is a work in progress. If you would like to contribute to this site with code, suggestions or money then please contact me at stephen.bowyer@widearea.org.
I have this proxy service is known to work with:
Please contact me if you have trouble accessing this site from any other browser. But please note that Javascript is a requirement.
